Google’s latest acquisition underlines importance of social web

Reports are confirming that Google have now acquired PostRank, a social media analytics site that measures engagement on the social web.

PostRank was founded in early 2007 and offers four different services that collect, monitor and analyse data, provide free tools for publishers as well as a connect service that introduces companies to influential publishers.

This means that Estate Agents that publish to social networks such as Twitter will be able to see how their content spreads across the web as well as keeping an eye on their competitors.

The acquisition of this analytics company shows us that social is playing an increasingly greater role in the future of the internet. Hopefully we will eventually see the death of the characterless Estate Agent that only tweet out what properties are on their books, and we see more agents engaging with local users.

Any Estate Agent wishing to sign up will have to sign up to the Beta list on the PostRank Interest Form.
