The golden Facebook ratio

After setting up your Facebook business page, filled in your Estate Agent-related information, and attracted fans, what activity can Estate Agents expect? Will the page just sit there and collect digital dust bunnies or will be a hive of activity.

As an Estate Agent with a Facebook business page, unless you are offering something completely unique to the market or have created a local community, you can expect growth and activity will take some time.

But what about this golden ratio? Well the rule coined the social behaviours rule by Jakob Nielsen states that fan participation on social networks often follow a 90-9-1 rule.

In this rule 90% of your fans lurk, read and observe, but don’t contribute, 9% of users contribute occasionally and only 1% of users participate regularly.

Troy Stanley, CTO of Resource Techniques comments, 'With that in mind, Estate Agents need to think about the type of content, update or posts that will compel any fan or visitor to post a message.'
