Google+ reaches 400 million members

Google Plus, the search engine giant’s social network has reached more than 400 million members in just 12 months says Google’s Senior Vice President of Engineering Vic Gundotra which was announced earlier this morning.

He also added that Google+ also has 100 million active monthly users!

Vic Gundotra wrote “This week we also hit an important milestone–over 400,000,000 people have upgraded to Google+. It was only a year ago that we opened public sign-up, and we couldn’t have imagined that so many people would join in just 12 months”.

Google’s social network may be drawing in huge numbers but still has a long way to go until it catches up with Facebook who had 955 million active users in July.

This means regarding active users Facebook is still 10 times bigger than Google+, however it did take Facebook several years to reach 100 million active users, while Google+ has managed to do it within just 12 months.

Should Facebook be threatened by Google Plus?
