Foursquare takes a big leap forward

Foursquare has been around for a few years now and has always been a members based software but it has now updated its web-based local search and recommendation engine, making it available for all web users.
Up until now you have needed a Foursquare account in order to access user reviews but now all you have to do is go onto Foursquare.com, which allows you to search for local businesses in your area.
You are able to search for things like “Restaurants”, “Bars” or even “Estate Agents” which will give you access to a variety of local businesses plotted on a map with information and ratings allowing you to find reliable and respected businesses in the area.
You are then able to see more information about the business, including tips, reviews and even the current mayor!
This new move by Foursquare has turned them into a local search tool alongside Google Places and Yelp, instead of just a simple check-in app.
Foursquare may not be as popular in the UK as it is in the U.S. but it still can be a good promotional tool to drive traffic to your Estate Agency website.
