Facebook pages: Important information
15 February, 2011 | Web design
Estate Agents may have noticed that Facebook has been in the news a lot recently. Articles we’ve covered here include Facebook storms into the deals market and increase security on your Facebook.
Now Facebook has unveiled that they will be updating Facebook pages – all for a richer user experience, more information notification and distribution and… more prominent photos!
How do I upgrade my Fan page?
Type ‘Pages’ into the Facebook search bar at the top of your screen and then click on ‘Facebook Pages’ from the dropdown box. The next page will then have a blue link entitled ‘Pages I admin’ next to a grey Create Page button in the top right hand corner. Clicking on this will list the Fan pages that you manage and on this page Estate Agents can click a big blue button named ‘Upgrade my pages’.
So what’s new?
The first thing Estate Agents will notice is that only fan page design is different but they will notice that photos are a more central part of the fan page experience – bringing their photos to the forefront of their fan page.
Secondly Estate Agents will be able to switch effortlessly between a personal profile and your Facebook page. This means that depending whether you are in the personal account section or have switched over to control your Facebook Fan page, notifications will only show for personal or Fan page.
This also means that Estate Agents will have curated news feed. This means that your newsfeed will be completely customised depending on whether you are in the personal section or the fan page section.
How can I switch over?
To switch over to the control of your Fan page, click on Account in the top right hand corner and then ‘Use Facebook as Page’. Once clicked, a box will appear asking you to switch to the relevant page.
To switch back, simply go to Account in the top right and then click on the link that says ‘Switch back to [Your Name].
