5 Reasons Why You May Need A Redesign

Is it time for you to consider having a website redesign? Every estate agent should ask themselves this question every couple of years and while there are many factors that go into web design, knowing when you must have a redesign is surprisingly easy.

Here are 5 reasons why you MUST have a redesign:

1) Your website is too old

There is no specific timeline for when you need to redesign your website, it all depends on the design of your website and if it has maintained. However, the average business will redesign their website every 3-5 years which is a good indication for how long you should wait before reviewing your website to see if it needs a facelift.

Here are some of the things that will make your website look and/or feel old and outdated:

  • Too much clutter (too much information, widgets, call-to-actions, etc)
  • Overuse of colour
  • Old/outdated gimmicks (e.g. automatic playing music or videos when a page loads)
  • Flash

An old looking or generally outdated website will reflect badly on your business and leave your audience thinking that you just don’t care. It is important that your website reflects who you are as a business and leaves a great first impression.

2) Too slow

People’s patience has diminished significantly over the years and a slow loading website will literally kill your online marketing efforts.

Today, we expect a site to load within 2 seconds. Our attention span is getting shorter and shorter especially when it comes to the internet so you must meet your audiences’ expectations.

Speed really does kill and if your site is slow then it’s time for a redesign.

3) Your website is not responsive

More than half of Google’s searches now come from a mobile device and now that we have the ability to access the internet from almost anywhere this number will only increase.

If your website is not mobile-friendly then your audience isn’t likely to hang about. You should also bear in mind that just because your website works on a mobile, it doesn’t mean it’s mobile-friendly or more importantly user-friendly.

4) It doesn’t represent your company well

If your branding or business image has changed, you must ensure your website still reflects who you are and what your business represents. Your website is usually the first point of contact for your audience and potential customers; it should be a clear reflection of who you are.

Anytime you rebrand you should ensure your website doesn’t get neglected.

5) Low Conversions

What worked two years ago may not work now, it is important that your website keeps up with the ever changing online marketing strategies and campaigns. If your website is no longer converting or keeping your audience engaged then it may be time for a redesign.

Your website is your 24/7 shopfront that will build your brand and educate your audience all day, every day.

It is important to review your website regularly, picking out all the positives and negatives to see if it is really time for a redesign. If you are still unsure, why not request a free web review? This will help you to understand if your website does actually need to have a redesign or if it still has some life left in it.
