Rumour Has It Apple Will Be Launching A New iPod Touch

It has been a long time coming. Almost four years ago Apple launched the sixth generation iPod touch and now if rumours can be believed the seventh generation iPod touch will be released in the near future.

According to Japanese supply chain Macotakara, Apple could be preparing to launch the new iPod touch at some point in 2019.

The report from Macotakara is rather vague and only citing a supply chain source with no further information regarding specification details or pricing.

However, they did say it would remain cheap which is a pleasant surprise considering all the talk regarding the new iPhones being too expensive. At the moment, the iPod Touch is £199 to £299.

If the report is true, this would be the first iPod touch upgrade since July 2015.

After Apple discontinued most of the iPod range back in 2017 including the iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle, the sixth generation iPod Touch was the only iPod in production.

The report also talked about a rumour we’ve heard a lot over the last year or two that the next iPhone will ditch the Lightning connector in favour for the USB-C instead. This would obvious move considering most Apple gadgets now come with a USB-C but we will have to wait until September 2019 to find out…
