Is an 8K iMac on its way?

It looks LG may have slipped up and accidently revealed the existence of an 8K Apple iMac.

Earlier this week, at an LG press release where they were explaining why 4K is now outdated and talking about their own 98 inch 8K TV, the South Korean tech giant mentioned that “"Apple has also announced that they will release the iMac 8K with a super-high resolution display this year" which of course Apple hasn’t announced.

LG do manufacture the 5K display used in for Apple’s current 5K Retina Display iMac, so they would be a company that would have insider knowledge of Apple’s up and coming iMac range.

And an 7680 x 4320 8K display (that’s an amazing 33 megapixels) isn’t so farfetched either, with Apple already having a 27 inch 5K retina iMac on the market with 5,120 x 2,880 pixels.

However, we are taking this information with a pinch of salt, as it could simply have been a mistake or misunderstanding on LG’s part, yet neither Apple or LG have has made a statement on the comment and LG has since taken the post down.

Is this a sign of them covering it up or is it simply a mistake? I guess until we hear anything directly from Apple, we will never know for certain.

Stay tuned for all the latest tech news and rumours.
