All you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5

Samsung have officially announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the S6 Edge+. Here is all you need to know about these new Samsung devices:

1) We will only see the S6 Edge+

It isn’t clear why but the Galaxy Note 5 isn’t coming to the UK and will only be available in the US.

For some reason only the S6 Edge+ will be hitting the UK shelves.

2) Big, bold screens

We are hoping the S6 Edge+ and Note 5 will follow in the footsteps of the S6 which was one of the best screens on the market with its beautiful, bright and vibrant colours. The S6 Edge+ and Note 5 both have a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED panel, which sounds very promising.

3) Finger print security

Just like the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, the home buttons on the Note 5 and the Edge+ will scan your finger print for both security and contactless payments.

4) No removable batteries

As expected Samsung have done away with removable batteries which may be disappointing for some. But both devices come with 3000mAh units which is quite impressive. It isn’t clear how they will handle these larger screens but with the Quick Charge 2.0 technology it will be able to charge from 0% to 60% battery life in just 30 minutes.

5) No Micro SD slots

Again this was expected but will still be a blow to many Samsung users. With no expandable storage in either the Note 5 or Edge+ it means you will have to get the more expensive models with larger capacity.

6) 16 megapixel cameras

The Note 5 and Edge+ both have 16 megapixel cameras with optical image stabilisation just like the S6 and S6 Edge.

If they match the S6 camera then users won’t be disappointed.

7. It is the most powerful phone in the world

On paper, both handsets are very impressive. Both come with a massive 4GB of RAM, with Samsung’s very own Exynos 7420 processor, meaning it should handle Android 5.1 Lollipop a lot smoother and faster.

8) The best Note yet

Sadly for us in the UK, the Galaxy Note 5 blows the Note 4 out of the water with its high quality metal and glass build, which was inspired by the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

The Edge+ also follows this build and looks like a larger S6 Edge.

9. The S Pen returns but only for the Note 5

There is no S Pen technology on the Galaxy S6 Edge+ but the Note 5 does and it has been improved a lot.

10. Coming very soon

As we mentioned above, the Note 5 won’t be hitting UK shelves but the S6 Edge is available for pre-order from today (18th August), its official launch date is the 4th September and will set you back £700 SIM-free according to reports.
