Apple has unveiled not one but two next generation iPhone’s at their latest event. The two new iPhone models are called the iPhone 5C which is a colourful plastic budget phone and the iPhone 5S, which includes a 64-bit A7 chip, enhanced camera and fingerprint sensor called Touch ID.
The iPhone 5S – what’s new?
The biggest changes with the iPhone 5S are more so internal; however you can now get the new iPhone in one of three colours, gold, silver or slate.
The iPhone 5S comes with a new 64-bit A7 chip that Apple claims will make the 5S several times faster than its predecessor.
Probably the most exciting iPhone update is the fingerprint sensor that’s been built into the home button, dubbed Touch ID. This new feature replaces the traditional PIN password.
With Touch ID you can use your fingerprint to unlock your phone and verify purchases.
The 5S still has an 8 megapixel camera, but they have increased each pixels size by 15percent to allow for enhanced light-grabbing abilities.
It also comes with digital image stabilisation, new dual-LED flash and a larger F2.2 aperture. Apple have also added a couple of software feature to the camera, such as a 28 megapixel panorama creator and a burst mode that captures a series of pictures, then picks the best one.
This runs alongside the CPU and constantly measures motion data via accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. In conjunction with the phone’s GPS, Apple says it will bring in a new generation of fitness apps.
The iPhone 5S goes on sale in the UK on September 20th.
The iPhone 5c – the budget phone
After going around the rumour mill for months, the iPhone 5C has finally been announced and marks Apple’s return to colour.
The iPhone 5C comes in a range of colours and is built from a single piece of polycarbonate. It is available in green, blue, yellow, red and white (as you can see above).
The phone features a 4 inch retina display, A6 chip and an 8 megapixel iSight camera (the same as the iPhone 5 camera).
The iPhone 5C is cheaper than the iPhone 5S, with prices for the 5C starts at £470 compared to the 5S which starts at £550 but the price range is said to be more dramatic on contract.
