10 things you didn’t know your iPhone 6 could do

Apple’s latest operating system iOS 8 was released alongside the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. iOS 8 may not have had a big redesign like there was from iOS 6 to iOS 7 but there are still a lot of exciting new features. Here are the 10 best features iOS 8 users can use:

1) Add voice, video and location to any text message

You are now able to send voice and video message via text along with your current location. Great for when you can’t be bothered to text or want to brag about where you are.

2) A predictive keyboard that learns your conversion style

Called QuickType, you can simply type in a few letters and your keyboard will suggest some options for the word they think you are typing and what you might type next.

3) Find out what Apps are killing your battery

Discovering what apps are draining your battery life is now easier than ever. You can view battery usage on each individual app to help you find out which apps are draining the majority of your battery.

Find out what apps are draining your battery by going to Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage. Here you will be able to see what percentage of the battery each app has used either within the last 24 hour or the last 6 days.

4) Use Siri with no hands

A very handy feature, especially when you have no hands free. You are now able to activate Siri by saying “Hey Siri” out loud, however this feature is only available when your device is plugged into a power source.

Once activated Siri will then listen for your commands. This will come in very useful when driving (as long as you have a charger in your car) to enable you to make calls, get directions and send texts all completely hands-free.

Activate Siri hands free by going to Settings > General > Siri > Allow “Hey Siri” then enable.

5) Ask Siri what song is playing

Siri can now find out what song is playing as it is now integrated with Shazam. Simply activate Siri and ask “What song is playing?” or “What song is this?”

Siri will listen to the song and bring up the song details on screen.

6) Wi-Fi calling

Only available on T-Mobile at the moment (expected to roll out onto all carriers soon). Not only will this feature help to save you on your call minutes but supposedly the calls sound clearer too.

To enable this by going to Settings  > Phone  > Wi-Fi Calling then enable.

7) Time-lapse videos

Apple has improved their iPhone cameras and added a few new features too. You can now shoot photos in dynamically selected intervals.

8) New photo editing tools

You can now customise every aspect of your photos with the new photo editing tools. This includes modify light, automatically straighten horizons and adjusting brightness, exposure, contrast and much more.

9) Camera timer

Handy for group photos or selfies you are now able to set 3 or 10 second timers on your iPhone.

10) Get more from your notes

A new version of Notes has been released as well, allowing you to write notes in rich text (bold, italics and underline), you are also able to include photos within your notes too.
