Pick the right social media platform for you

What social media platform should you focus your social marketing efforts on?

You should choose the social network that offers the best potential for you to reach your audience. Very few estate agents (and businesses in general) can be great on every social platform as that would require a huge amount of time and resources.

We would recommend you focus your efforts towards producing one great social media accounts, instead of having lots of poorly managed accounts.

But how do you decide which platform is right for you? Take a look at what all the social media platforms have to offer and decide which one is most suited to you:

Most businesses will be able to find success with Facebook due to its size alone, if they use it correctly that is.

Facebook is a long-term commitment, building relationships and growing fans isn’t an overnight job. Every business could benefit from having a Facebook page, even if it is just to draw attention to their brand.

However where most estate agents fail on Facebook is due to the misunderstanding of what Facebook is really all about. The social platform isn’t about selling; Facebook is all about letting your customers get to know who you are and what you have to offer. You will want your business to come across as friendly and helpful as it may encourage them to use your services in the future.

Twitter is a fast paced platform, with content constantly flowing. It is a great tool allowing you to reach out to people in an instant, such as posting breaking news or asking quick questions to your followers.

Twitter takes up a lot of time and is more so for the more dedicated estate agent that wants to post lots of interesting and informative information frequently and engage and help their audience directly.

LinkedIn is a way for you to grow connections in the business world. This is a great platform for you to be on if you are targeting professionals.

If you have produced articles or a blog, LinkedIn is a great place for you to share them so people can read more about who you are and what you do and also allows you to show off your expertise.

These days Google+ is much more than just a social network. It will help you to build a loyal fan base and provides customers with the opportunity to leave reviews. Users are also able to endorse content and websites with the +1 button, further promoting your business.

Google+ allows local business to link up their Google+ page with their Google Places business page and their website. This enables businesses to connect with customers via organic local search and Google+.  With a more appealing Google+ page, your business will stand out more on Google’s organic search results.

Being on every single platform around isn’t easy and requires a lot of time and effort. It is better to focus on one social platform, monitor its results and work hard to grow it. Remember social media only works if you stay involved and are consistent!
