Make 2015 your best year on Social Media

Stay on track with your social media channels this year. Here are 8 quick tips to ensure that 2015 will be your best year on social media.

  1. Be more visual

Content isn’t king when it comes to social media and visual marketing should dominate your social efforts in 2015. Use beautiful visual content to catch your users’ eye.

  1. Create awesome content

Content may not be as appealing as visuals but it is still vital to any social media campaign. You should use blogs, webinars, etc. to educate your audience on your business and your industry. This will not only draw your audience to your website but will also be hugely beneficial for your SEO efforts too.

  1. Be time conscious

When it comes to posts on social media, time is everything. You can’t post too often but you need to post often enough to stay on your audiences mind, as well as posting at the right time for maximum exposure. You can use tools like Hootsuite to find your perfect posting time.

  1. Follow the 90/10 rule

This rule is to ensure you don’t over promote which is a very common mistake among estate agents. We recommend that the content of your social media posts should be 90% about other topics that your audience may be interested in such as local news, industry news, etc and 10% of your posts should be about you. By using the 90/10 rule it will keep you in your audiences mind, without annoying them with repetitive self-promotes.

  1. Engage with your audience

It may sound obvious but you’d be amazed by how few businesses really engage with their audience. Message them, reply to their comments, search hashtags related to your brand.

  1. Optimise your posts for each platform

Posting the same statuses on all social platforms is very common but is a mistake. What works for one social network may not work for all of them. For example, Facebook gives you the freedom to write longer, more detailed descriptions, however Twitter restricts you to only 140 characters.

Think about what you post before your post them. It may have a bigger impact with a little more effort.

  1. Use #Hashtags

Hashtags play a crucial role in all social media campaigns but that doesn’t mean you have to go crazy with them. Only use relevant hashtags that you think may reach your target audience and expand your reach. However don’t feel the need to hashtag everything, 2 to 3 hashtags per post should really be your limit.

  1. Be mobile-friendly

Smartphones are here to stay and they dominate social media. As so many people will be using social networks on their mobile devices, it is crucial that your entire website is mobile-friendly. You don’t want to waste your time with social media if you are only going to lose your audience once they enter your website.
