Instagram has reached another massive milestone!

The mobile photo and video sharing app now has over 500 million active monthly users. The social network has grown by over 100 million users in just under a year (up from 400 million announced last September).

Also, 300 million of those users use the app every single day, according to Instagram.

80% of which is living outside of the United States, which is up 5% since last September.

Instagram has recently annoyed their users due to changes the company have made to their app, the main concern to users being the update to Instagram’s newsfeeds, which has shifted to an algorithmic timeline instead of chronological timeline. However it doesn’t seem to have effected their growth.

Not only is the growth of the social network going strong, but the engagement is massive. The app now sees more than 95 million posts and over 4 billion likes every day.

Despite Instagram being relatively small compared to the rest of its Facebook family (Facebook having over 1.59 billion active monthly users and WhatsApp with over 1 billion), it is still the second most popular social network in the world and is certainly on its way to joining the one billion users club!
