Easy Ways to Improve Your Tweets

Twitter has over 326 million active monthly users making it the third most popular social network in the world. It is loved for its fast pace and microblogging but it is also one of the best social media platforms for building your brand.

Unfortunately, many businesses miss out on the benefits of branding due to not fully understand the social platform and how to engage with users in order to build their brand.

Here are 5 easy tips to help you improve your tweets:

1) Choose and use relevant hashtags

Hashtags are very powerful on Twitter and are usually overlook by those who don’t fully understand them or Twitter. It is one of the easiest ways to improve your tweets, boost your performance and expand brand awareness. Don’t just use any random hashtag, do some research find one or two relevant hashtags and include them within your tweets.

2) Use a variety of Visual Content

A tweet with visual content will drive 2 times more engagement than a tweet without. Visual content doesn’t just mean photos either; ensure you mix it up with videos and GIFs if you can. Twitter now allows you to record and upload 30 second clips with their app or import them. You can now also add GIFs by clicking the “GIF” box under the tweet box.

3) Discover the best times to tweet

When it comes to Twitter, timing is everything. You want your tweets to be seen by as many people as possible so run some tests and find out when your audience is most engaged.

Generally speaking, tweeting at off peak hours will usually draw in the most engagement and working hours (9am to 5pm) will draw in the least. However, your audience’s activity may be different so ensure you test this.

4) Include links as well as call-to-actions

Ideally, you want the traffic from Twitter to be driven to your website and the best way to do this is through links and call-to-actions. You don’t want to waste valuable character space so ensure you use link shorteners like Bit.ly.

You should try to include a link and a creative call-to-action within every tweet.

5) Be active

Twitter is a fast paced social network that requires an active user to find great success. You need to consistently post a couple of times a day, every day. If you post infrequently you won’t get anywhere on Twitter.

Bear in mind, that it’s not necessarily a bad thing to tweet the same piece of content more than once, it may be worth switching the images or editing the content a little to see if it drives better engagement but as Twitter is very in the moment there’s no harm in tweeting content more than once to grab your audience’s attention and improve post frequency.
