Create The Perfect Social Media Post

What is the formula for the perfect social media post? We are revealing the perfect formula for your posts to ensure you obtain maximum results.

Within the article, we are going to highlight the key points that we consider to be the most essential elements of a social media post.

Keep in mind that while there may be a perfect structure to ensure the best posts, in order to succeed you must appear natural and apply change to your posts every now and again. If all of your posts follow the exact same structure, it will become very transparent to your audience, which in turn will make you look very robotic and impersonal.

Here are 10 of the best practices you should consider when writing a post:

1) Include an Image

Social media is a very visual place. If you want to grab your audience’s attention you will need to use an eye-catching image.

Images are one of the most important factors for social content. Every post should include an alluring visual, be it image or video.

2) Include a Link

One of your main reasons you are on social media is to drive traffic to your website and the easiest way to do this is by including a link.

3) Enticing Title

Everything about your post needs to be enticing, otherwise they may be overlooked. This includes the title. Once you’ve drawn the reader in with a great image, they will now want to know what the article is about so make sure the title is clear, concise and engaging.

4) Keep It Short

Just because you don’t have a limit on characters when posting on most social platforms, it doesn’t mean you should waffle on. It is a proven fact that shorter posts (40 characters or less) receive the most likes and comments. Longer text posts are usually overlook or ignored due to their length so take advantage of short and snappy posts.

5) On Occasion, Avoid Peak Hours

Posting at non-peak hours will help your posts to stand out. Most businesses only post within the basic working hours (9am-5pm). We would recommend you try posting on weekends and evenings to help your posts stand out from the crowd.

6) Post Frequently

When it comes to social media, consistency is key. You should try and post at least once a day in order to keep your audience engaged. This will also help you to build a loyal following.

7) Keep Up-To-Date With Trends And Events

In many cases, gripping posts that get a lot of shares will usually factor in trending topics or current events. This may be industry news, local news or global trends. When relevant try to include these within your posts.

8) Use Hashtags

You want to maximise the exposure of your posts and ensure your audience will be able to find it.

Adding hashtags will help exposure if done correctly, as users can search for hashtags and click on hashtags to see other posts related to it. Make sure the hashtags you use are relevant to your posts though.

9) Call To Action

Summarise the post with a clear call to action, this may be a question or a link directing them to an article.

10) Will Your Audience Want To See It?

Before you post, ask yourself – is this post interesting, educational or informative? Put yourself in your audiences’ shoes and decide if this post will be seen as valuable to them. Will they want to see or read it?  If the answer is no, then maybe you should rethink posting.

Bear in mind that even with the perfect formula for posts, if you don’t produce decent content to back up the post, you will be wasting your time. Ensure you only share interesting and informative content with your audience.
