Google Maps Will Stop You Getting Caught Speeding

Google Maps has started rolling out speed limit and speed camera features for iOS and Android users.

The speed limit feature will show the speed limit of the road you are driving along in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. The speed camera feature will make you aware of approaching speed camera locations by displaying a camera icon on the visible location of the map. The app will also make you aware of approaching speed cameras with an audio warning.

This speed limit feature has actually been around for over a year, but it has only been available in the San Francisco Bay area and Rio de Janeiro.

Google has confirmed that these new features have begun to be rolled out across its mobile app, with speed limits available for UK, US and Denmark users, whereas speed camera warnings will available for users in the UK, U.S., Australia, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, India, and Indonesia.

It’s surprising that Google Maps hasn’t had these features added sooner, as the navigation app Waze which Google acquired in 2013 for around $1 billion, has had these very popular and useful features for years.

However, Google has now confirmed that after over 5 years, Google Maps is finally getting some of Waze’s more useful features.
