Google Maps New Feature: Share Favourite Locations

Google Maps has released a new feature that allows you to create customised lists of your favourite places as well as share them with friends.

These lists are shareable via the Google Maps app and you can also follow lists that are of interest to you too.

Previously, this feature was only available to Google’s ‘Local Guides’, however now they are being rolled out to all Google Maps users.

The new feature is available on both iOS and Android versions of the app. The feature is to help you make social plans and remember the places you love.

Create a list:

1) To create a list, open up the Google Maps app and sign in.

2) Tap on the venue on the map.

3) Click Save.

This will automatically bring up some pre-set lists such as ‘Favorites’ and ‘Want to Go’, which you can save the venue in.

You also have the ability to create your own custom lists too, which you can find in the ‘Saved’ tab in the ‘Your Places’ section in the side menu.

Your lists can be viewed on the desktop and mobile apps and you will also be able to access them offline if you download the area in advance.

Another great feature is that you are also able to share and follow other list which is great if you are traveling or need restaurant recommendations.

Google has continually been evolving their Maps beyond the simple Sat Nav tool, with features like nearby parking, shortcuts and popular times, and with them continuing to evolve their service as well as branching into the social market, Google Maps will soon be the only app you need to help you get around.
