Twitter has revealed there are now 10 million active users tweeting on a regular basis in the UK. This makes the United Kingdom the fourth largest tweeting nation with around 1/6th signed up to the social network.
Surprising 80% of tweets in the UK are sent/viewed by mobile devices, which is more than any other country with the average of mobile Twitter users being 55%.
The official post was sent by @TwitterUK saying:
Snapshot of Twitter in the UK: 10m active users, 80% of which are also active on mobile. And an office that’s been open almost a year!
Currently Twitter has over 140 million active users worldwide producing 340 million tweets per day. The growth of the microblogging social network since its creation in March 2006 is incredible and is now the second most popular social network behind Facebook.
The top countries on Twitter are the United States, Japan and Brazil followed by the UK who are 4th.
But will Twitter continue to grow its global audience?
