Are You Driving Customers Away?

Just because you have a website doesn’t mean your potential customers will want to visit it. If you monitor your websites analytics to see how it is performing then you may be surprised to see a lot of potential customers are leaving it very fast.

So why might this be happening?

1) No one wants to visit an unresponsive website

If you follow your websites analytics you may also be surprised to find the amount of potential customers visiting your website via a mobile device (this figure is likely to be over half of your traffic). Unfortunately for you mobile devices don’t come in one size, they range from anywhere between 13 inches to 2.5 inches and your website needs to be easily accessible from all of them. So how is this possible? Responsive web design adjusts your website to fit any screen, ensuring the user experience is always great.

2) Dated or poor design

Looks aren’t everything when it comes to web design but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have to be pleasing to the eye. Block content, harsh colours, busy pages are all sure-fire way to lose potential customers.

3) Confusing navigation

Your potential customers need to be able to find what they are looking for almost immediately. If they can’t find what they are looking for within a few seconds then they aren’t likely to stick around. It needs to be obvious where the information is. Help your potential customers find what they are looking for, don’t make it hard for them.

4) Slow website loading

Your website needs to load within seconds; otherwise there is a big chance your potential customers will give up. All those beautiful big images, animation, videos and widgets may make your website look cool but if it affects the loading speed you may not have any customers to see it.

5) Broken images and links

Obviously it is important to maintain your website to avoid these problems but very few estate agents do. If links don’t open or images aren’t displayed leaving the page with gaps then it isn’t a good sign for your potential customers.

6) Outdated content

Another bad sign is seeing outdated, irrelevant content on an estate agency website. Ensure you keep all your content fresh, up-to-date and relevant.

7) Prominent contact information

One of the main reasons a potential or existing client will be visiting your website is to find out contact information. Make sure it is easily accessible; it should be displayed within the primary navigation, high up on the homepage and on every page of your website. The Contact Us page within the primary navigation should have your full address, phone number, email address, a contact form and a map pinpointing where your office is.
