Facebook hits 1 billion users signed on in one day

Facebook has unveiled that they have hit a massive milestone of one billion people logged into their social network in a single day, which happened last week.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, sent out the email to his employees to alert them to this major milestone. The email stated:

“We just passed an important milestone. For the first time ever, one billion people used Facebook in a single day.  On Monday, 1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family.

A more open and connected world is a better world. It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values.

Thank you for being part of our community and for everything you’ve done to help us reach this milestone. I’m looking forward to seeing what we accomplish together.”

Facebook has around 1.4 billion active monthly users, and throughout the month of June they were averaging 968 million daily active users, which of course meant it was only a matter of time before they reach the 1 billion daily milestone.

Facebook for business:

Despite the fact Facebook are dominating social media, many businesses have stilled failed to grasp the benefits Facebook has to offer.

Here are 3 tips to find success on Facebook:

1) Create valuable content

Only post content that will be valuable or interesting to your audience. Your goal when posting on Facebook is to entice followers in so that they will share your content, expanding your reach and driving more business and traffic to your website. Without valuable interest, entertaining or educational content this just isn’t possible. Think about what your audience wants to see from your business and post it.

2) Interact with other pages

Pages can like each other and share each other’s content, it is a great way to encourage followers to like another page while the other business reciprocates your efforts. Engaging with other pages can increase both your reputation and reach across Facebook.

3) Visuals, visuals, visuals

Content is king for your website but visuals are king for Facebook. Visuals generate 53% more likes, 104% more comments and 84% more click-throughs. Don’t neglect images and videos on Facebook, they can make or break your page.
