What does the Scroll Lock key do?
Scroll lock what
are we going to do with you? No seriously, what can we do with
you?
Many Estate Agents will find that it is one of those rogue keys
that is never used and most people don't even know why it's even
there.
When all your other keys have faded from overuse, scroll lock is
guaranteed to be silently mocking Estate Agents along with the
'Pause Break' Key.
Scroll lock, as the name suggests, locks and unlocks scrolling
within a document. It is the remains from the old style of keyboard
by IBM and is not used by most modern software. In the original
design, scroll lock was intended to change the way that people used
the arrow keys - or 'scrolling' keys.
When the scroll lock was activated, the arrow keys move the
whole document up and down, left and right, this is instead of
moving the flashing cursor that allows you to type.
Today, the use of scroll lock is rare. Some MMORPG (Massively
Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) still use Scroll lock as an
extra function to the game.
Estate Agents, have you ever used scroll lock? Do you still use
scroll lock today? Let Resource Techniques know via our Facebook page or Twitter
Profile.
