Does Content Trump SEO?
The phrase ‘Content is King’ is mentioned a lot in
SEO but can be misinterpreted as ‘Content written for SEO is
king’.
What I mean by ‘Content is King’ is if a website is
using poor SEO practices it won’t be penalised by Google if
the content has been written well for the user. The good content
alone can redeem the website from ranking poorly within Google.
That being said, you should still optimise your content for the
maximum exposure across the web.
How do you write SEO friendly content?
- The first step is to use a catchy title and use your chosen
keyword within the title. You need to make your visitor want to
read the content.
- Next you should use subheadings within the content, include
relevant keywords within the subheadings. To make it clear that
they are subheading make sure to include them in H2 or H3
tags.
- The content really needs to have at least 300 words on the
page.
- Within the article you need to add in the keywords or
keyphrases a few times especially towards the beginning of the
text. Be careful not to use the keyword too much within the text as
it may be seen as keyword stuffing.
- Finally, use related phrases within the content to help
optimise for other keywords too. For example, instead of
‘houses for sale’ you could use the phrase
‘properties for sale’.
These five tips will help you get started with your websites
content strategy. Writing clear, optimised content will help you
achieve high rankings.
