Commercial Agents Must Go Mobile
Commercial agents and chartered surveyors not convinced yet of
the importance of a mobile optimized website for their company
should take note of research carried out in 2011.
We’ve talked about how
mobile websites work, the
unique behaviour of mobile traffic and the
commercial opportunity that mobile presents chartered
surveyors.
Yet research published by a number of leading organisations like
Cisco Systems, 02 and Forester Research show how mobile will
completely change the way the web is used and how commercial agent
websites are accessed.
The Growth Of Mobile Optimised Websites
In the three years to 2011 there was a 2000% increase in the
amount of mobile optimised sites on the web. This increase has been
due to the way that we are embracing the convenience and
accessibility that mobile devices give us to access the Internet. A
typical Smartphone (iPhone, Android, Blackberry etc.) user will
access the web 20 times a day.
What The Experts Say
As far back as February 2010, John Gregory of mobile network O2
revealed that internet traffic across their mobile network doubled
every four months, resulting in an 18-fold increase in traffic.
In 2011, Cisco Systems research noted that mobile data traffic
was more than three times the size of the entire global Internet in
2000. Furthermore, between 2010 and 2015 they forecast that global
mobile data traffic will increase 26-fold.
Your Competition Is One Click Away
In November we looked at the possible
mobile expectations of commercial property clients. One of the
findings was that 34% of customers surveyed said that on visiting a
poor mobile website they would simply visit a competitors website.
Further to this article, we have come across research carried out
by Forester Research. In their study they found that 40% of users
do not return to a website if their first visit is negative.
There is No Excuse
The convenience that smartphones bring, will mean increasing
that commercial property tenants, landlords, investors and
developers will be accessing your website via such a device.
It is therefore imperative that you deliver the very best
impression you can.
The good news is that a mobile optimised version of you website
is a relatively cheap solution. Cost will be a fraction of what you
spent on your conventional website. There simple is not excuse.
